Travel Nurse Employment – To Travel Or Not To Travel?

January 21, 2010

Working, for someone who’s fresh out of a course on nursing, is difficult, as one may find it hard to land a job as a traveller, owing to the current economic status. This may especially be true for those who don’t have any work experience. But don’t be disheartened, you still have hope.  You will have to keep close tabs on local postings, after which you may analyse the scenario. If the number of opportunities for travel nurse employment shows a significant increase, you may start applying.

Travel Nurse Employment

To attain a job, you must first approach a travel nurse agency; there are plenty of them on the internet. It is the travel nurse agency which will undertake the co-ordination of your accommodation, efforts, and contacts. Once you clear the preliminary rounds of interview with the recruiter, you can breathe a little easy. You will have a long standing association with the travel nurse agency from here on. They will handle your payments, your allowances- both travel and housing, and you will also be able to pick up other perks such as allowances (housing and travel), insurance (life and dental) and anything else that the travel nurse agency might offer.

Each of them has tie-ups with at least a hundred healthcare institutions or so. They will organize a call or meeting between the recruiter and you, so they may interview you, discuss when you can join and other specifics. Always find out everything about your assignment before saying yes! The duration of a contract is anywhere between 14 weeks to a year.
